Let us view the Buddhist view of life or better that of death, the eternity so to say. Let us have a closer look on the nature of the Buddhist view of the eternal life. OK let us start with the beginning, as by any faith or religion the first priority has to be that a new life is born. Only to be born can create the life to the death.
Two parts in that life we will for certain not remember, this being the day we are born and the day after our death, hence we cannot remember the beginning of our live and what will happen after we die. There are many people walking the earth who proclaim that they can remember a previous life, they cannot proof it but they have the "feeling" that they have been someone before.
Others walking the earth have sometimes the feeling that they have been there before, without explaining the in or out of it.
Using the cycle of nature to presume that that life will continuing after humans have died is just a presumption and has no relation ship to the cycles of nature. The human nature of being born, childhood, adulthood and old age are not the same as the cycle of Nature. In nature the plant does not die, but humans do. Therefore is absurd to presume that the cycle of nature has any relation ship with the cycle of life, as in nature there is no death but hibernation, while by humans their is no hibernation but simple death, the end!
As with all the religions and the faiths in the world that feeling does exist. However, that feeling does exist with religions and faiths that do not belief in re-incarnation of any kind. The Christian, the Jews, the Muslims by example belief that there is an eternal life for ever. However not a return in one form or another. That feeling belongs to the Taoists and the Buddhist. As with the other religions and faiths there is not a single form of proof that there is actual a return from death in one form or another.
Some Buddhist special the one orientated on the Western civilisation that the proof of continuing of life can be found in the return natural cycles in nature. However that is just a way to try to explain and to proof of something that does not exist. The natural cycle, the summer, autumn, winter and spring are indeed returning episodes, however they do not die they simple react to the changing temperatures of that particular cycle episode. Other say but look at the plants they die in winter but return in spring. This is a false use of a natural cycle, as the plant may look the flowers and leaves but does not die, just hibernate till spring. This is also done by many animals, they hibernate but this does not mean they have dyed and return to life next spring. They are alive all the time. If a plant or an animal dies then they are indeed death and will not come to life again.
In Buddhism there is a supposedly understanding that the life cycle is not stopped by death but simple continues after death, one way or another. Let us be clear that there is no proof, not even the slightest that this is indeed the case. However, by presuming that it does not stops but continues in one way or another, they can and have created a continues cycle of life after death fore ever till the new life form is brought to the begin cycle once more. In the same way we could presume that we when we die are not dying but simple preparing ourselves for a new return. That we in fact are living in another dimension in an alien life. None of this is established and all is jus a presumption, just a thought of wishful thinking with not identifiable proof to test of this is or can be correct.
Taking this back to the beginning long before Buddhism was known and the people were believing the learnings of Confucius and Tao, there was already the wish of remembering the death, remembering the ancestors, later was added praying to and for them and in time the wish was added that they would come back. However it was just wishful thinking. Buddha went one step further, he actual told people that there was an eternal life and that people would return depending on their previous life style. Was this done to attract attention or did he actual belief it himself, we never will know, but Buddhism was established as an extension of the previous beliefs and presumptions via Confucius and Tao.
Buddhist will point out that us as humans are experiencing life and death almost daily in the form of being happy one moment and the next moment could be angry, that they say is a form of life and death as the happiness is death when anger starts. This is a salesman tactic of selling something they not really have but pretend to be having. A little like holiday home swindlers who are selling you a part of the holiday area in the form of a bungalow. It does not exist but the buyer is willing to belief it exist as it was that they always were looking out for. Anger and happiness are part inside the human nature they are there always, sometimes the one is on top sometimes the other but both are there non-stop in one form or another.
How did Buddha got the idea of life/death and rebirth? He explained that life has three points, the body, the mind and the right and the Buddhist explains that by death they all merge with the eternal state passing from an existing in a non-existing state. Again this is a presumption just as in other religions and faiths who have there spirits and souls, there is no proof other than the presumption made on the bases as by all religions and faiths a story launched by a certain person or persons in a time long past.
Then follows the re-birth, this is an occurrence also never proven, but is seen by the Buddhist as an occurrence beyond understanding and comprehension. The fact is that in simple turns a new bay human is born, nothing more nothing less. Science shows exactly how the process occurs and no relationship to a wonder as seen by the Buddhist. The wonder what could occur is that if the birth is difficult or has complications the child still is born as is expected while it could have been death at the same instance, the wonder being that it did survive. For the following of that life we have to realise that such a life is prone to disasters. It can be engulfed in flames and reduced to ashes. It can be washed away in a flood of water never to be seen again. It can be killed in wars or crime by knife, bullet or other means of violence, in all those cases the Buddhist said the life will return.
It does not, it never has done and never will be done, wishful thinking does not makes it happen, and we all wants that the ones we love and care for will be still there to see and hear us, we all hope that one day we will see that person again. Many lives are ended just for that reason and we never know and will know of that what they expected did happen. However, no proof is ever presented. This on it self will create suffering and suppresses a normal life and happiness.
The beginning of Buddhism had the right idea, suffering is the wanting of the death persons return, the clinging on to that person to those people was the greatest suffering in that period, no happiness in sight. Then it was decided that this clinging could be transferred as "the person is not death but is waiting to return". Re-birth was born; people did not cling any longer but did pray for their return, that hope created happiness and a better feeling.
But that seeing them again that re-birth did never happen in their time and for that reason it is very doubtful of this presumption actual has any value as a matter of believe or thinking. The myth of Buddhism is the same as the myth of Buddhist do not fight. They do and their are more wars done between Buddhist countries then the Buddhist will acknowledge. The Buddhist has found the Middle road. Fighting between Buddhist states was not the fight between Buddhists but between the rulers of Buddhist states, therefore the Buddhist did not fight. That they did will not be acknowledge as it does not suit the purpose. It is like the wish of re-birth they want it they hope for it but it will never come. The Buddhist fights the Buddhist kills, but their excuse will cover the facts. However in the USA armies are several battalions of Buddhist soldiers and soldiers kill. However as we have seen in a Buddhist article in Miami it are not the Buddhist who doing the killing but the ones who are giving the orders. Nice try but it does not alter the facts.
It does not alter the facts of war and it does not alter the presumption of the re-birth. If we leave the war and the re-birth out Buddhism could actual be a reasonable accepted faith. It shows the compassion other religion do not have, it shows the care for humans other religions do not have. If they dispose of the presumption and the fantasies they actual could be a prominent faith. However now they are online with the many faiths arising and indoctrinating their victims. This is certainly the case with the SGI which is based on indoctrination and control, in the same way as the Moonies and the "come to me I am the better faith" organisations in the USA.
Ware it comes down to is that it is a man made presumption based just as the Christians, the Jews, the Muslims on the word of times long past and of which no proof exist. In other word just a story, used by clever people to make money out of the ignorance of humans and the SGI is indeed a prime example.
